March’s Saturday supervision group will explore the diagnoses of Depression and Anxiety as this is the most common presenting issue for many patients. We will go over diagnostic criteria as well as best practices for addressing depression and anxiety symptoms in treatment. Group members will have the opportunity to discuss patients they are working with who are experiencing these challenges.

We will be discussing the importance of thorough case conceptualization and treatment planning in helping patients reach their goals. Tips and ideas will be shared for writing solid treatment plans and how to document this well for patients as well as for reimbursement. November Group Topic: Working with Children

November’s Saturday group supervision will focus on working with children. The group will be provided with information on common disorders of childhood, to include Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Disruptive, Impulse-Control and Conduct Disorders. We will discuss ideas for best approaches and interventions when working with children, adolescents and families. Group participants will get the opportunity to discuss child patients that they may be working with. If you do not work with a child population, you will still find this group helpful to gain more understanding of your adult patients and their challenges.

Topic: Managing Crises & Challenging Patients

This month’s 4 hour group supervision will focus on challenging patients with special focus on suicidal ideation and suicidal behaviors. Resources for crisis intervention will be shared . We will also discuss other challenging patient issues such as threatening behavior and potential aggression, boundary crossing, lack of progress and countertransference. Group participants will get the chance to share and gain ideas on how to manage and potentially avoid these challenging situations. This group is offered virtually and the cost is $85.

This month’s group will explore a range of Personality Disorders in depth. We will discuss how to know when a patient is displaying symptoms of a Personality Disorder and gain knowledge and ideas regarding treatment. This month’s Saturday Group Supervision will focus on the importance of Case Conceptualization and Planned Treatment. Ideas will be presented on formats for case conceptualization and we will practice this with actual patients you are working with. We will also discuss the importance of developing a good Plan of Care and what to include. Find out what insurance companies need in documentation of these two things and how you can document for compliance.

We will explore issues related to working with families, whether that is in the context of child or adult patients. June’s Group Topic will be Family Engagement. Whether you work with children or adult patients, family involvement in treatment is inevitable and often a necessary tool for patient’s recovery. We will explore the best ways to increase family engagement, improve family show rates, and review some basic ideas and skills to make family sessions more effective.
